Research Briefs
Research briefs are concise, timely, and impactful articles addressing pertinent issues in law and technology. They provide an opportunity to engage both new and old as law meets the demands of the current technological and scientific moment. Topics for a research brief might include challenges to existing law or doctrine as applied to new technology, responses or comments to recent litigation or regulations, or proposals to address an identified gap in law or regulation.
Length: Research briefs should be a maximum of 6,000 words, inclusive of footnotes. Submissions should also include a brief abstract (maximum of 200 words), which does not count towards the maximum limit.
Format: Research briefs should be double-spaced and written in 12-point Times New Roman font. Research briefs should be submitted as Word documents at https://www.vjolt.org/researchbriefs.
Submissions will be reviewed by the journal’s submission team and subsequently edited and published online in accordance with our online article review procedures. This process will involve two rounds of editing by VJOLT editors and an opportunity to respond to comments and provide stylistic or substantive edits before publication.
